OTTAWA, ON, the Oct 15, 2021 / CNW / – at the request of the Right Honorable JustinTrudeau, Their Excellencies the Honorable MaryMaySimon, Governoregnrale of Canada, and Mr. WhitFraser will pay a state visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, from October 17 to 21, 2021, which will include stopovers Berlin and Frankfurt.

As part of this visit, the Governor General will strengthen bilateral relations between the Canada and Germany and will represent the Canada the world’s largest publishing fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, whose Canada is this year’s guest of honor.

In order to promote Canadian diversity and strengthen relations with Germany, Their Excellencies will be accompanied by a small delegation made up of the following personalities: LouiseBerniceHalfe – SkyDancer, official buddy of Parliament; LisaKoperqualuk, Vice-President, International Affairs, Inuit Circumpolar Council (Canada); NikNanos, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Atlantik-BrckeCanada; and KimThy, writer.

Visit of the Humboldt Forum with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany
Their Excellencies and the President of Germany will visit an exhibit at ForumHumboldt which featured Canadian artifacts, including two Indigenous West Coast totem poles. This visit will also be an opportunity to discover the importance given by the ForumHumboldt to the conservation and exhibition of artefacts in consultation and in collaboration with their original owners. This exhibition will open its doors to the public in 2022.

The Humboldt Forum opened in 2021 thanks to a collaboration between four cultural and educational institutions: the Humboldt Forum foundation; the cultural project of Berlin and the Muse of the city of Berlin, the Ethnological Museum and the Asian Art Museum, and the Humboldt University.

The governoregnrale delivers a speech at the opening ceremony of the 73eedition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, whose Canada is this year’s guest of honor. The opening ceremony will also feature Canadian authors VivekShraya, MargaretAtwood and JosphineBacon (both of whom will participate in the virtual ceremony). Inuit opera singer DeanthaEdmund also performs.

This year, the theme chosen by the Canada The title of guest of honor is? Singulier Pluriel – Singular Plurality ?, an expression that aims to illustrate the culture of diversity in Canada where each of us is unique, but linked in one at the same time by our differences and our common values.

Their Excellencies and members of the Canadian delegation will visit the exhibition Those We Met: Inuit Traditional Knowledge and the Franklin Expedition at the Archaeological Museum in Frankfurt. This traveling exhibition was designed by the Canadian Museum of History, in collaboration with the Inuit Heritage Trust.

Then, Their Excellencies will participate in a round table with Professor MarcusRex, Ph. D., leader of the MOSAiC polar expedition, who will unveil the preliminary results of the expedition as well as the challenges he faced and the opportunities that arose during his year. in the Arctic.
